Celebrate the Start of Summer
Wednesday, June 6th – Sunday, June 10th, 2018
How about 5 days of Fun! Thousands of people gather in Albertville each year to enjoy one of the areas funnest events. There’s something for all ages at Friendly City Days. The City Wide Garage Sale kicks off the festival on Wednesday morning. For the sports fanatic there’s Softball, Soccer, a Bean Bag Toss Tournament and a 5K Run. For the kids there will be a Carnival, Clowns, and of course Fireworks.
Back again this year, the Local Craft Beer Tasting will be on Thursday night with live local music featuring Midwest Mayhem. Friday and Saturday night music features Mitch Gordon and the Unleaded Band & PopRocks as the headliners, with Standing in Line, Shane Martin, Johnny Rawls, Shalo Lee Band, Max Graham & The Fam, and George Jundt playing a variety of great music throughout the weekend.
Friday night features two new events this year, Skill Shot Station and Bed Races. STMA Blue Line Club has added a skill shot shooting area located next to the pork chop dinner, starting at 4:00 pm. Participants can take 5 shots for $2.00 and each time you make it through the skill zone, you win a chance at 50% of the pot! Winner will be drawn that night and contacted via email or text. Second place winner will receive a $50.00 gift card to Rush Creek Golf Club.
And, Friday evening at 7:00 pm on Main Avenue, be sure to check out the BED RACES, sponsored by STMA Women of Today. If you are interested in entering the races, visit the registration forms page for details.
Saturday activities include a Classic Car Show, the Fire Department Open House, Pedal Tractor Pull, Craft & Vendor Fair, Kiddie Parade, Toddler Town, and Bingo.
In addition to the popular Grande Day Parade on Sunday, be sure to check out the softball tournament championship game, wristband day at the carnival, live music, and the Albertville Royalty Coronation.

Midwest Rides brings in over 30 Carnival rides and games starting Thursday afternoon. Saturday is filled with entertainment for the kids. Some of the kids activities will include a Kiddie Parade, a Pedal Tractor Pull, Face painting, Root beer floats with the candidates, and the KRWC Radio Fun show and the Craft and Vendor Fair on Saturday at 10 a.m. on Main Avenue.
A bean bag tournament takes place near the softball fields on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Throughout the weekend, a 22 team Mens Slowpitch Softball Tournament will showcase some of the state’s top teams. There is Youth Soccer Tournaments featuring the area teams. Saturday, the annual 5K Run & Race attracts over 250 participants of all ages.
Food and Entertainment
No great weekend is complete without Food. There will be a Pork Chop Dinner, a Spaghetti Dinner, Chinese, Greek and plenty of grilled food to choose from, including all that fabulous fair food.
Friendly City Days is also packed with entertainment for all ages. The event features Fireworks on Friday evening and top name performers providing a variety of live music throughout the event. Be sure to stop by the Central Park baseball field for the Albertville Villians baseball game against St. Francis on Friday night, and St. Michael Saints on Saturday night.
Craft Beer Tasting
Back by popular demand, the Craft Beer Tasting will return again this year. The Craft Beer Tasting will take place on Thursday, June 7th from 6:00 – 10:00 pm at the Central Park Beer Gardens during the Garage Band performances.
Patrons will be able to sample 12 different Craft Beers brewed in the Minnesota region. Tickets will be sold from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. for a Commemorative Glass and 6 Sampling Tickets. Additional tickets will be available for purchase. The Tasting will be sponsored by the Albertville Fire Relief Association.
Friendly City Days is a great time to get out and meet your friends and neighbors. The Craft Beer Tasting will be a great time to do just that. Mark your calendars and come join in on the fun!
