Celebrate the Start of Summer

Wednesday, June 10th – Sunday, June 14th, 2015

How about 5 days of Fun! Thousands of people gather in Albertville each year to enjoy one of the areas funnest events. There’s something for all ages at Friendly City Days. For the sports fanatic there’s Softball, Volleyball, Hockey, Bean Bag Toss tournament, and a 5K Run.

New events in 2014 included Classic Car Show, Mega Jump BMX Show, Crazy Cute Pet Costume Contest, REMAX Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides, Wright County Canine Demo, Central Lakes Search & Rescue, and a Historical Display at City Hall.

Costume Pet contest Crystal 2Costume Pet contest GingerThe 2014 Crazy Cute Pet Costume Contest winners were “Crystal” for the cats and “Ginger” for the dogs.  There was also “Chuck” the chinchilla but it was owned by one of the doctors so he couldn’t win.

Every year there’s live music featuring Country, Rock n Roll, Bluegrass and Old Time. For the kids there’s a Carnival, lots of shows and activities, a parade, and, of course, fireworks. No great weekend is complete without Food. There is plenty to choose from including all that fabulous fair food.

Friendly City Days is a great way to start the Summer. Albertville is a great place to meet your neighbors and reunite with old friends.

Family Activities

Midwest rides brings in over 30 Carnival rides and games starting Thursday afternoon. Saturday is filled with entertainment for the kids. Some of the kids activities will include a Kiddie Parade, a Pedal Tractor Pull, Face painting, Rootbeer floats with the Queen candidates, a kids entertainer, and the KRWC Radio Fun show and the Craft and Vendor Fair on Saturday at 10 a.m. at City Hall.

Sport Activities

A bean bag tournament takes place near the softball fields on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. All weekend there’s a 22 team Mens Slowpitch Softball Tournament featuring some of the state’s top teams. There is also Co-Ed, Mens, and Womens Volleyball Tournaments featuring the areas top teams. Saturday, the annual 5k run attracts over 250 participants of all ages.

Food and Entertainment

The event features Fireworks, a Pork chop Dinner, Corn on the Cob, a Spaghetti Dinner, and plenty of Food stands. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening includes live music.

Public Service

Saturday from 9:00 to noon the Fire Department hosts an open house featuring their entire department on display along with plenty of activities for the whole family. Check out the Kitchen Fire Safety trailer, and the kids will be able to spray a fire hose at a house. Be sure to watch for the North Memorial Air Care helicopter around noon!
